IT PASSED THE FIRST TEST.

rough sign

Cliff’s Meats sign was on the agenda today once more. We did a little more sculpting, finishing the bulk of one of the bulls. Then I welded up a sturdy structural frame and glued the two sides of the sign around it. The sign is massive, measuring 4’ x 4’ x an amazing 4’ deep. THAT is what I call dimensional sign. :)

Tomorrow we should be able to just about complete the sculpt on the first side before starting in on the  second bull. I’ll begin carving the woodgrain onto the sides, top and bottom of the sign as well.

glued up sign

We had some new clients from Utah through the shop today. They immediately gravitated to the bull sign and asked if they could take some pictures. We happily agreed. It made me smile for the sign has already passed it’s first test - a requirement of all the projects we tackle.

The test is simple. Before we are finished installing a project, someone, who not connected with the us or the owner of the sign must take some pictures. It happens almost without fail. It means the sign is working already and is memorable enough to do its job well. I suspect there will be a few more pictures taken before the deadline too.

Stay tuned for more progress...
