The shop has been quiet for the last weeks as I recovered from my surgery. That ends bright and early tomorrow as we begin production on a brand new project - the second phase of the entry facade of NEB’s Fun World in Oshawa, Ontario. Last year, we prefabricated the twenty sections of the large front wall of the facade. It measured fifty-three feet wide when it was assembled onsite. This west side of the wall will measure about forty feet wide and almost thirty feet tall at its highest when it is assembled next year. We will build the wall in twelve sections. As with the previous phase, we will begin the project by welding up the structural steel frames and then the pencil rod armatures. Diamond lath will follow, followed by the sculpting process in the New Year. It is going to be a fun project! Stay tuned…
Back to the design table
I am delighted to report that my recovery from my neck surgery ten days ago has been rapid and amazing. Chronic aches and pains previously endured are gone. The feeling has largely returned to my hands. Freed from pain, I have a lot more energy. The toughest challenge is to not overdo things as I continue to heal. My family and crew keep a close eye on me to make sure that happens. I look forward to being able to drive once again by the middle of next week! In the meantime, I am spending lots of time at my design table, dreaming up concepts for a variety of projects we will be tackling in the future.
Almost ready to drive
All of the pieces we created for the Stefan’s Country Drive attraction are now in place. The Vala’s Pumpkin Patch crews are going to be busy in a last minute scramble to get everything ready for the fall season that begins in a couple of weeks. This attraction is part of a whole new area of the farm. Although there is much still to be finished, the Cider Mill area looks fabulous and is going to be a wonderful addition to the farm.
