Summers are generally the slowest time of year in our shop. Our customers all want to be ready for the busy summer season, and don’t have time to think about new additions until the current operating season is over. Thankfully, there are always a few exceptions. Vala’s Pumpkin Patch is adding some awesome attractions next year, and they have decided to let us get a jump start on the project with a very large feature. We’ll be delivering it just before the snow flies this fall. We got the nod to proceed late yesterday, and this morning we kicked things into gear. It isn’t often that we can guess what a project is going to look like on the very first day of structural frame construction, but this one is pretty evident. There is a long, long way to go on this fun feature, but we are making great progress already! Stay tuned…
Copper Crown ceiling sculpted!
Detailed ceilings are a whole lot of work, and when they are high, this is twice as true. It takes a lot of skill to apply the mud to the upside-down surfaces. To keep everyone safe and be as efficient as possible, we built a sturdy temporary floor on top of two scaffolds. Over the last while, the sculpting crew has been busy laying on the fibreglass-reinforced-concrete and carving in the detailed woodgrains and stone work. The sculpting on this level will be complete as of tomorrow. This room is going to be spectacular! Next week, the crew will switch to painting, and we are very excited to see the results! Stay tuned….

70 and even better!
It’s almost impossible to believe, but Janis turns 70 today. It is a joyful 70 as she has been working hard to get back in shape and has achieved many lofty goals. She bench pressed 100 lbs for the first time in today’s workout. We celebrated with a family barbecue. I first met Janis and fell head over heels in love when she had just turned 16 years old. She is still that same happy person, yet very different and even better in many ways. Happy birthday to the love of my life!
