Toad progress

I spent a little time today finishing the sculpting of the tree and toad on my Sign Invitational piece. There are still many small details, including a bunch of moss, some toadstools and a snail that I still have to add before I begin the painting process, which is going to be a whole lot of fun! Second figure ready to install

The second statue for the Copper Crown is now fully sculpted, textured, and primed to make it ready for installation. He’s a little larger and heavier than the first of the damsels, and it will definitely be a challenge to hoist him into position. The crew is busy finishing all of the ceiling plasterwork above the figures. Painting of sections of that work commenced today. We are excited to show all of that work as soon as the scaffold comes down to reveal it. Stay tuned…

Lyrical toad roughed

For a couple of weeks, I’ve been itching to work on the Lyrical Toad sign for the Sign Invitational, but life has been busy. Today was the day at last, and in a few hours, I had a whole lot of fun and made great progress sketching out the piece in 3D. Our Fastcut CNC plasma made short work of cutting a dozen maple leaves from some scrap 14-gauge steel. It didn’t take long to weld on the stems and then weld the leaves to the tree structure. The sculpting of the tree is now almost complete, and the toad and harp are roughed and ready for the final layer of sculpting epoxy and all the details.
