Lyrical toad roughed

For a couple of weeks, I’ve been itching to work on the Lyrical Toad sign for the Sign Invitational, but life has been busy. Today was the day at last, and in a few hours, I had a whole lot of fun and made great progress sketching out the piece in 3D. Our Fastcut CNC plasma made short work of cutting a dozen maple leaves from some scrap 14-gauge steel. It didn’t take long to weld on the stems and then weld the leaves to the tree structure. The sculpting of the tree is now almost complete, and the toad and harp are roughed and ready for the final layer of sculpting epoxy and all the details.
