THE MYSTERY OF THE CEILING TILES...

Over the last few days a lot of work has been done to bring this project closer to the finish line. Over the last week or so I have been working on the curved ceiling. I ran out of tiles and asked the contractor to order me some more. Jonathan gave me a bad time about my estimating skills, but dutifully brought in another case. I worked late the other evening in anticipation of the floor layer coming the next morning, but found myself short nine tiles to finish the project. I let Jonathan know I needed one more case. He once again gave me a REAL bad time about my estimating skills but promised to bring them in the next day.

The next morning he phoned me to let me know that my estimating skills weren’t quite as bad as he thought. It turned out the electricians had been coming into the board room and taking a few tiles at a time to use upstairs to put in the pot lights. Their labor was in vane however for the upstairs tiles are of a different style than the ones I was using. A fresh case of tiles awaited me when I arrived today.

Yesterday the cork floor was laid and looks spectacular. Today, at last, it was time to move in the board room table.  Doing so suddenly gave the room purpose. And it did look pretty cool in it’s permanent home. Now it is time to work on the last of the trim, put up the rest of the ceiling and hang the balance of the eye candy we have made for the room.

Weeks of hard work by many people, both my crew and the many trades who have labored on various aspects of the project have made it happen. Each played a necessary role, be it visible or not. The end result is something we all can be proud of.
