Our second business, Giggle Ridge Adventure Golf is now open for the summer season. That of course means the Yarrow Days Parade is only a few weeks off. The parade float we had used in years past was old news. It was time for a new idea but as always a realistic budget was imposed. This didn’t mean we had to be less creative however. We had decided to incorporate our train into a parade float. I’d pull it with our tractor.
I needed only the slightest excuse to do some more work on the Persnickety & Doodle Railway rolling stock. Since we needed to be safe and secure it was imperative to fabricate the hitches for the cars and engine. In a couple of hours I made good progress and then it was time to use the neighbor’s forklift to put the rather large and heavy pieces on the trailer. Things went smoothly and in no time it all was looking pretty good. Over the next weeks we’ll add the rest of the decorations to the float. Phoebe will need little encouragement to be the train engineer. One of her friends can be the fireman. They’ll have to take turns ringing the bell. Flapjack the bear, our mascot will ride as her passenger in the rail car.
We’re counting the days now until PARADE Day...
