COOL TOOLS TO PLAY WITH!

cutting motorcycle

I get to play with the very coolest tools in my shop on a daily basis. One such tool is my plasma cutter. I started fabricating the bracket for the Vedder Mountain Grille today. I needed a motorcycle cut out of a plate of 3/16” steel. No problem!

I first made a pattern from paper and then traced it onto the steel. Then it was time for magic. The plasma cutter produces a plasma arc and then blasts it through the steel plate effortlessly cutting through it cleanly. The hard part is to stay on the line as I cut around the shape. It will need a little grinding to clan up the edges and straighten up some of my wiggles but it looks pretty good right from the start. While I had the tools out I cut the flourish that goes behind the rear tire. Its time for lunch now... after which I’ll show some more cool tools as we put the bracket together.

Stay tuned...
