It was another landmark day as the upper parts of the walls and ceiling over the staircase were finished in the Copper Crown. As soon as the day’s guests had checked out of the other suites, the crew rushed in to do the noisy and messy work. The last remaining Atlantid was also installed. With the scaffolding removed and easy access to the stairs restored, it is time to prepare the lower areas for the sculpted plaster. Meanwhile, in the shop, we are starting the fabrication of the giant chandelier, which will hang in the center of the room. Other surprise details are also being designed and fabricated, adding to the magical space. Stay tuned…
Poop deck
The structural frame is now complete on Cap’n Elias’ pirate ship bound for Vala’s Pumpkin Patch in Nebraska. That means we are on to forming and welding the pencil rod armature. I started with the poop deck. The structure was built up on top of the hull and then removed to finish. It needed to be removed to work efficiently and to get it out of the shop. The upper deck will be shipped separately and will be reassembled when it is installed at the farm next spring. I made good progress on the pencil rod. My goal is to have this ready for the diamond lath by day’s end tomorrow. Then it is on to the stern of the hull. Stay tuned…
More scaffold gone!
It is fun to watch as the crew completes each section of the theme work in the upper reaches of the Copper Crown. As each section is finished, we are able to remove a little more scaffolding and finally able to stand back to view more of the spectacularly grand room.
