Heavy duty door

The Cap’n Elias’ quarters are in the back of the pirate ship, and needed a sturdy door to access them. The public won’t be allowed, as this area will actually be the way the Vala’s staff will service the sump pumps for the stream. that feeds the pond where the ship will be moored. Because golfers will putt past the door, you can bet many will stop to try to open it. They are just curious. This door, welded up from two layers of welded quarter-inch-thick steel, is plenty strong to stand up over time.

And a third - just for fun!

I’ve had a few people wonder about my Sign Invitational entry. There are actually two pieces, Lyrical Toad and Hornae Toad (soon to be three), that I am working on for the show. Only one will be officially entered in the competition. The other will be showcased in the Coastal Enterprises booth. I often provide a piece for them to show as an example of how we use their awesome High-Density Urethane and companion products. We’ve been using Precision Board for more than twenty years and love the partnership we have formed. They, in return, support us well and will help promote the Sign Invitational event at the show.

We’ve also had a long-term relationship with the good folks at IBEX, who have created our routing software. This evening, I started this design for the display sign I will be crafting for them to showcase in their booth at the ISA EXPO. We will, of course, use their software as much as possible to create the routing and plasma files for the project. It is going to be as much fun as the other two projects I’m sure.

Ship concept

We’ve been working on the giant pirate ship for about a week and are making great progress. While we can clearly imagine how it will appear when finished, many readers have some difficulty seeing through the structural steel and pencil rod I’ve shown thus far. We are working from a single concept drawing with a few basic measurements to guide us. This is the drawing that our client approved. Golfers will putt over the deck of the ship and onto the first green. This ship will be part of a mini golf course with other pirate features throughout. Stay tuned to see it come to life…
