Red Jeep with a surprise

Grandma thought the idea of shooting candy with an air-powered gun could go awry. Henry and I differed, but Grandma’s argument won the day. That meant we had to come up with plan B. We went to town this morning to pick up the parts for a custom water gun we would build and then mount to the Jeep cowl. (tiny stream of water planned). Henry will be in charge of manning the water squirter during the parade. We are keeping that plan top secret until we make a pass by the house during the parade. We have no doubt grandma will be surprised! Building the swivel mount and custom gun was quick and easy, and Henry was over the moon during the testing phase.

With some time left in our work day, it was time to break out the red enamel paint and apply the first coat to the little Jeep. Now it matches the red cannon trailer we’ll tow behind. There is still plenty of work left to do, but we are confident we’ll be ready for the Yarrow Days Parade in two and a half weeks. We hope to see you there!

Garden delights

The weatherman called for a soggy Sunday, but between rain showers, Becke sourced a pickup load of shrubs, plants and flowers and began the process of putting them into their new home in the Under Hill Garden of the Hazelnut Inn. This private guest area is looking more lush and beautiful by the minute. Inside the suite, decorating continues, and it is simply breathtaking!!. There are only nineteen more sleeps until the Open House on June 7. Many guests are booking their first stay in the suites, with only weekdays available through to July. If you have an occasion you wish to celebrate with someone special, don’t wait too long…

Painting begins!

Henry loved the sculpted embossed flames and rivet bands and could hardly wait to begin painting. It took a while to select some suitable colours from the vast range we have on hand but with a little research online and some gentle coaxing from gramps and dad the choices were made. Then the painting began. True to Henry’s style it didn’t take long to cover the cannon with a first coat. We set up a fan and turned up the heat to speed the process. Once it is dry the second coat will begin. Stay tuned…
