A pirate tower!

We always allow for extended deadlines to complete our projects for several reasons. One of those reasons is to enable our customers to add to their order if needed. One of our favourite customers, Vala’s Pumpkin Patch in Nebraska, decided they needed three more good-sized signs and features in this year’s order. We measured out the feature frames to ensure we could squeeze these extra pieces on the truck and confirmed we had the time to do the projects and still meet our original promised delivery date. In the last weeks, we have made substantial progress. Today, the entire crew tackled the sculpting of the rock work. We made great progress and will finish up this giant section of the tower tomorrow. The top stone crown is underway just to the rear and should be to the same state of progress by week’s end.

Passed final inspections

It was a banner day for the Hazelnut Inn as the city building inspector and fire marshal toured the Under Hill and gave it the thumbs up. That meant it was time to begin the move-in and decorating. The first piece to get installed was the TV, complete with a decorative frame. It is a special TV that will showcase custom art when it is not in use for entertainment. Right behind Peter came the first of the furniture and Janis with the quilted drapery for a test fit before the final edging and hemming. There’s a new level of excitement as we count down the final days before the open house on June 7. The first guests won’t be far behind…

Castle arches

Each time we give a tour through the Hazelnut Inn, we start with the least finished suite. When we began, we had to describe how things would appear after the construction was complete. As the crew gradually puts form to our vision, we have to explain less and less. The front wall arches are now formed and almost ready to begin the stapling of the diamond lath. Then the sculpting crew will carve the giant stones. It is going to be a very grand and elegant space without a doubt! Stay tuned…
