Today, Julianne laid the last bits of tile on the Under Hill Suite in the kitchenette floor and half of the entry area to facilitate access to the magical room. Peter was busy in the bathroom doing the same. By the end of the day tomorrow, they will lay the last of the tiles and switch to the grout. We are days away from calling the final inspection and then the final sprint to the open house on June 7th. There are twenty-eight work days to go!
Great progress this past week
It is always exciting to return from my time away and see how much the crew has accomplished in my absence. This trip, I was gone for three and a half days. They loaded the pieces for Kraays. Keith was busy welding armatures for Vala’s Pumpkin Patch. Kendra was busy painting in the shop. Out in the Under Hill Suite in the Hazelnut Inn, tilework continued. And much was accomplished in the Copper Crown Suite as well. Upstairs, Matt worked on sculpting the heavy beams. Peter hung the bathroom door. And the boys made great progress on the ceiling framing and backer boards. It is all coming together quickly!
On the road home
After a six-year absence, I decided to attend the International Sign Association EXPO in Las Vegas this year. It was past time to reaffirm our valuable connections in the industry. Our good friends from Colorado were launching the all-new IBEX routing software at the show and had honoured us with an invitation to assist them. I also spent some time in the booth of our decades-long suppliers and friends at Precision Board HDU. I met with many good friends in the industry and made some new ones. It was a busy and productive three days on the enormous trade show floor. Now, I head home to help finish a shop full of projects and the almost complete Under Hill project.
