PAVED!

There was a flurry of activity in front of the Hazelnut Inn this afternoon when Loewen Paving arrived to extend the blacktop from the edge of the road to the sidewalk. It only took a couple of hours for this experienced crew to grind the edges of the existing pavement, shape the gravel base, pack it down and then lay down two coats of fresh asphalt. It looks great, and we can now cross another big project off our to-do list!

Vancouver Sun feature!

They did a wonderful job and this week it was released. The signs of the Hazelnut Inn - part three

The sign for the North Star uses some familiar imagery to identify the entrance to this suite. The anchor and compass rose are securely fastened to the massive rudder of the ancient ship stern that is ‘precariously’ balanced above the entrance. It is an elegant yet simple solution that reinforces the telling of a great story. As with the other signs of the Hazelnut Inn, it hints at the magic of what lies hidden beyond the gate.
