The View From Our Window
This giant invisible pumpkin is nearly ready for its concrete skin.
We’ve carved a lot of pumpkins over the years (and a LOT of concrete) but I don’t think we have carved too many concrete pumpkins. That is soon to change however, because the monster gourd on the back of this pickup is next on the menu.
While we were working on the front landscaping of the Hazelnut Inn we also did the eastern side along the driveway. It is amazing how the plants soften the hardscape of the theme work and make it look like the castle wall has been there forever. Guests are going to start feeling the magic as they begin the journey up the driveway.
Today, was the day we planted nine new fruit trees in the backyard. Henry, of course, desperately wanted to help. He helped me dig the holes on our little backhoe for a few minutes but quickly decided he wanted to be more hands-on. That meant he wanted to get inside the hole and finish digging with his hands. It turns out he is also an expert at spreading the bone meal and placing the trees and then packing the soil around them as well. Manning the water hose is definitely a favourite job as well. Working with Henry may not have made the job a whole lot faster but it DEFINITELY made it FUN!
