We made good progress on the two Stocker entrance signs today. Both signs are now glued over the structural steel frames and mounted to the stands. The decorative brackets, electrical conduits and drain holes are installed making the signs ready for the hand sculpted decorative finish work. I laid out the pumpkin faces using my overhead projector and then welded up the first dimensional face. Matt & Keith will do up the rest of the pencil rod armatures early next week using the first prototype as a guide.
Giant pumpkin
The next step in building Vala's pumpkin truck was to add the pumpkin armature. It will be sculpted using fibreglass-reinforced concrete. Peter roughed in the armature and framework before turning it over to Keith to finish off with the structure and pencil rod. Once Kieth finishes his work the truck will go to the lathing crew for the diamond lath. We’ll hopefully be doing the sculpting by the end of next week. Stay tuned…
First sign glued up
Today, we glued up the routed layers over the welded steel frames for the first of the Stocker Farms signs. The sign looks great! Tomorrow, we’ll mount it to the shipping stand so I can weld up the armature for the hand-sculpted pumpkin. It’s going to be another busy day! Stay tuned…
