Once we finish the sculpting and the concrete has a chance to cure it is time for the painters to work their magic on the features. This is when the pieces quickly come to life as layer after layer of paint is skillfully applied and blended. Once the base coats are on the next step will be the glazes which is where the magic really happens. The pie barn sign is now ready for that step. I can hardly wait!
First day of sculpting detail
Today it was finally time to begin the sculpting of the train detail inn the Pumpkin Creek RailRoad sign. I used up a whole lot of sculpting epoxy and wore out two popsicle sticks one the first day. Tomorrow, we’ll continue the happy task and by day’s end it should be almost ready for paint. Stay tuned…
Two of a kind
Its a usual thing for projects to run in multiples as we like to keep a common thread through our projects to the things together. The Vala Farm project has many very fancy brackets which help brand the operation in a subtle but very noticeable and classy manner. Today’s brackets are for the apple display in the exit building. They are cut from 1/4” thick plate steel. Underneath the brackets VALA’S APPLES signs will be fastened with smaller types of apple signs hung under those to help guests identify the apples in the display.
