Ready to make sparks

i’ve been traveling, having meetings, making a site visit, taking pictures and measurements, doing preliminary designs, adjustments, more meetings and making final decisions over the last two months. It is always exciting as the last of the tweaks to the designs are followed through, everyone signs off on the result and production can begin. Tomorrow, we haul out some steel and begin making sparks at last. Stay tuned as some very cool signs come to life!

Hiding the gas meter in plain sight

Regulations require that the gas meter must be mounted at about four feet off the ground. This would place the meter front and centre at the Hazelnut Inn. Some creative planning solved that problem by creating a small ‘canyon’ in the sloping garden. The meter will be mounted against the rock and brick wall between two large ‘boulders’ which we purposely sculpted there. The gas meter will tuck nicely between them. A large colourful bush which we’ve been cultivating elsewhere will be relocated to screen the unsightly meter from viewer’s eyes. By the time we are done the gas meter will be hidden in plain sight.
