It was very exciting to apply and sculpt the first concrete on the ship's cabin at long last. It sure changed things in a hurry! Next week we'll apply the magic mud to the filagree below the windows and then sculpt the woodgrain through it. The windows are scheduled to arrive in the first week of September and they too will be installed and the sculpting of the frames around them will be completed... just in time to lift the giant ship into place. We can hardly wait!
The first castle tower
As fast as we pull the finished pieces from the shop new fabrications quickly take their place. The first of the Hazelnut Inn's castle towers is quickly taking shape. The gentle curves and tapers look pretty cool already. This piece won't be in the shop very long and new pieces are already being planned to take it's place. In about two weeks the assembly of the prefabricated pieces will begin. We can hardly wait!
View from above
The builder, Duel Kloot, for the Hazelnut Inn, grabbed some cool drone shots of the construction site recently. It looks very different from this angle! The complexity of the construction and the many angles and curves are readily evident from this elevation. This is just the first level of the concrete work. All of the construction workers are having a lot of fun on this project and will undoubtably look back with pride for many years to come.
