The framers are having blast over at the Hazelnut Inn worksite. Every wall and suspended slab is carefully being puzzled out and put in place. It won't be long until the concrete is poured and then we will get to have some fun too!
Planned planting
I've long preached that a sign can be anything that effectively draws attention to a business. The actual name and logo on the sign is definitely important but there are many other things that can dramatically add to the desired impact and memorability. One of these elements is the landscaping around the building and sign. As sign makers we are limited by the regulations which control many aspects of the signs we build. This includes size. Through clever landscape design we can focus a whole lot of attention to the business without any restrictions. Our own business is a good example. The sign measures 4' x 2' and conforms to the local regulations. The visual impact of the building (our house) and colourful landscape multiplies the effect many times over.
Ships cabin ready for lath
As the forming for the concrete walls of the Hazelnut Inn are quickly assembled our crew is busy working on the ship and other components which will be lifted into place when the concrete has been poured. The welding on the cabin of the ship is now complete and the two pieces were pulled from the shop and permanently fastened together. With that job accomplished, the lath work could begin. It won't be long until we do the decorative sculpted concrete.
