Once the larger pieces of the Hazelnut Inn are in place we can move on to the detail which is the fun part. We made great progress on the inn model today. The Under Hill suite is taking shape nicely and the North Star suite is now ready for the detail work. It is going to be a visual delight when it is all done!
A few more pieces
As we get into the hundreds of details there is plenty of discussion about how things will go. With each detail we draw on projects past as well as lots of reference photos we have gathered. Various things are tried, scraped or cut off and then adjusted until it looks right. A small change in one area often impacts somewhere else. As we put each piece in place, the big picture is gradually coming into focus. There certainly are a lot of things to think about including sight lines, traffic flows, headroom and visual story cues. Practical considerations, like maintenance and how we are going to build things are also taken into account. This is going to be extremely challenging and a whole lot of fun! Stay tuned...
I can see it clearly now!
I spent a couple of hours his weekend, working on the Hazelnut Inn model. We had adjusted the rooflines and other details on Friday, making sure all the pieces were accurate to the blueprints. Today, I extended the firewalls behind the buildings and added the beginnings of the privacy walls between the gardens. I also finished the building roofs and overhangs. The basic shapes of the buildings are now complete and it is time to begin the fine detailing. That is always the fun part! Stay tuned...
