Here comes the train!

Normally one would lay tracks and then mount the scale train to them. But in this case the train engine chassis is purposely warped both vertically and horizontally for dramatic effect and so it was necessary to mount the train onto place and then position the tracks under the wheels. It took a little fiddling but things went smoothly. The wheels were temporarily mounted so they can be removed for painting. Two half inch steel rods plus the billboard actually hold the train in position.

Tomorrow once everything sets permanently I can begin the work on the train. Stay tuned...

Tie-ing one on and another and...

The sculpting process on the Sign Challenge piece is going to take a while for at this scale it is all about small details. I started with the top of the trestle and then will work my way to the bottom. In today's session we managed the top beams and the railroad tie. Having Grant mix the epoxy for me made things go a whole lot faster. Tomorrow I'll mount the rails and pike them into place. Then the train can be mounted. That's where the real detail happens!
