Viking ship 0.5 done

The first half of the first Viking ship is now finished. It's a piece the whole crew is extremely proud of. The detail throughout is amazing.Today, after the painting was done we lifted the top section and bolted on the shipping frame which will make it secure in the shipping container and prevent movement. It is now ready to crane into the shipping container. We got a start sculpting the next half of the ship this afternoon. Pictures to follow soon...

Making the best of an opportunity

Today, we took a little time to work on a project that has been waiting for more than two years. We have to keep the gates to our property closed as much as possible to prevent a constant stream of 'tourists' who drive in, curious about 'who we are', 'what do we do here?' and 'are we open?' We only accept visits by appointment to keep our daily schedule manageable. The gates by the road are automatic and for a little better than two years the post that held the key pad has been a bare welded armature - waiting for it's sculpted skin of concrete. With a couple hours to spare (while we waited for the truck to return with our galvanized ship pieces) today was the day! It was a great opportunity to explore some new sculpting techniques and was a lot of fun! We now have the fanciest gate keypad post in all of Yarrow! :)

One more day!

The weather was perfect for painting today and the crew made great progress laying on the paint and glazes. They came close to finishing but we decided the shields were a little too dark and so it was back to base coat on them. We'll make another attempt to get them perfect tomorrow along with the last of the glazes on the bottom of the ship. Hopefully by noon this first half of the ship will be done! Then it is on to the next.
