Our workshop is just over 300 feet back of the house. In-between is a lawn. I do my best to keep it trimmed and looking nice but there's the odd weed if you look close and a pesky mole or two seem to really enjoy living there too. Because we live in an area with a high water table no watering is ever needed and the soil seems to be pretty good - at least for growing grass. Each time someone visits, inevitably one of the first questions I have to answer is 'how do I manage to have such a nice lawn?' The answer is simple really. The key to having very green and lush lawn is to simply put a fence around it. That way the grass appears much greener on the other side.
Ship parking
The driveway and parking lot is currently plugged full of pieces of the two Viking ships. We disassembled the last half of the second ship today. The pieces take up a great deal more room than the assembled ships. On Monday morning three more sections of the ship's hulls plus the two keel figureheads will get loaded onto the semi truck for the journey to the galvanizers. Three galvanized pieces will make the return journey back out of the city. These pieces will be set on top of the lower half of the ship making another section ready for sculpting.
Ship shape at last
It was a very busy day as the crew worked together to complete the sculpting of the first half of the Viking ship's hull. It looks bigger than ever now and looks like a ship at last! Next week we'll be able to start in on the painting. Around the same time we'll begin sculpting the second half of this ship.
