More paint

The very large features seem to stay relatively the same for quite some time as they go through the painting process. Multiple coats of primer and base colours do not change the look of things for each layer is the same color. But the targets are almost through the base coat stage with some blended colours to start tomorrow and then on Monday the glazes will start where everything seems to change by the minute. The biggest changes will happen in the middle of next week as they begin the dry brushing and final highlights. Then it will be time to stuff it into containers and send on the way to Dubai.

Full blast ahead!

The second Viking ship mast was welded up today. Tomorrow the engineer will do an inspection and then the two masts and related pieces will be off to the galvanizers in the city. It is all massive and a great many, very heavy steel steel pieces with lots of welds to make it all one piece. The large target feature also got it's first coat of paint today. There were a few short rain showers through the day which kept the crew scrambling with plastic to protect the paint. Even so they got a lots done during the day.

First glazes

Work continued on all aspects of the Viking ship project for Dubai. Outside the second ship frame was fully assembled. The plumbing continued on the first ship. In the shop the small target features received the first glazes and are looking great. The weather is supposed to turn warmer and drier towards the end of this week and the large target will become just as colourful in a few days. Stay tuned...
