Today, we began the concrete sculpting on the Viking target structures which will be installed in the Motiongate theme park in Dubai. We started with the 'wooden' components. It's been quite a while since we did concrete work and it was good to get into the mud once more!
Getting a handle on details
The sculptors were busy today adding the handles and details to the axes. On their first axe they made a perfect handle. It was time for a little art direction and a story. The sculptors went back and got brutal with the tools adding battle marks, nicks, dings, weathering and much more character to the axes. In an instant they looked much better! They had a handle on the detail.
The real fun begins
The giant target features for the Viking ships in Dubai are now ready for the sculpting to begin. They started in sculpting the axe handles and other small detailed pieces today. Tomorrow we'll give the client an inspection and then we start the real fun part begins as we make it all look like the model we created a while back.
