We had a great time meeting new friends and old at the ISA Expo. Each entry in the Sign Challenge is definitely over the top. In the busyness of the day I neglected to take pictures there. Networking continued over a meal with our group and afterwards it was time to burn off a little energy and have a little fun. We decided some theme park research was in order... AKA go kart racing. Who won? We aren't really sure. Like the Sign Challenge it is largely about having fun along the way. A good time was had by all!
ISA EXPO Sign Challenge
Peter and I have been on the road and in the air since 2:00 am this morning. We were of course on the way to the Sign Challenge at the International Sign Association Expo in Orlando, Florida. This evening was spent at a supper gathering of all of the contestants. Spirits were high as old and new friends listed and changed stories. It was great fun!
I can hardly wait to go into the show tomorrow and see all of the fabulous entries for the first time. One of the contestants shared a photo of them as they were being set up. For anyone at the show the display is in the MultiCam Booth number 525!
Viking rock
The 'How to Train your Dragon' features for the Motiongate project in Dubai are some of the most challenging to date. Because it must break into small sections for dipping in the galvanizing tanks and then bolt together to form larger sections which will fit into the 40' shipping containers. It then will travel to the other side of the world before being lifted into a large building and bolted together one last time by another team. This makes for a lot of precise engineering and assembly by our team. While the large lower section of the target feature is out at the galvanizer we are busy on the top sections. The masts are welded and in the process of being sandblasted. Angie is cheerfully doing that terribly dirty job. In the shop they are also busy welding up the top portions of the Viking rock work and various other bits and pieces.
