With the return of summer like weather we are getting started on finishing a little more landscaping around the yard. A few weeks ago we prepped the ground and rolled out some turf. It sure cleaned things up in a hurry. Once the grass was down we could do a final install on the dinosaur sign. I'll cut in a flower bed in a week of two when it is time to plant the annuals. Will it encourage the look-loos to make an appointment before coming on our property? I doubt it but it does finish off the area beside the driveway very nicely.
Payload specialists
In this business one of the things we needed to get really good at was loading our creations for transport. It is always a challenge to say the least. The last few days have been exciting as we sent many features on their way. The giant (and very heavy) frame for the Viking targets was loaded onto a flatbed truck for the trip to the galvanizers. We hooked a forklift to each end and lifted the piece onto the truck. Then it was time for the big lift - the last two containers to head off to Trinidad. They weighed in at 21,000 and 22,000 lbs but our friends at Eagle West Cranes made it easy and quick. The most interesting load of the last few days was after the workshop yesterday afternoon. Dustin, who lives 300 miles distant, decided he really wanted to take his heavy (concrete and steel) signpost home - in his Jeep. No problem. While he folded down his top I fetched the forklift. We simply dropped it (very gently) into the back behind the folded rear seat and tied it to the roll bar. It worked like a charm and I heard he made it home without incident. :)
Workshop fun
We've been pleased to host another wonderful group in this Sculpture Magic Workshop!! It's been three long days of discovery and learning. Everyone is tired but hopefully full to the brim with inspiration and new ideas. It's been a very fun time!
