I've started design on a very fun project. It's going to be my entry in a friendly little challenge between ten very talented colleagues in the sign industry. There are of course a series of restrictions and rules. That will make it even more fun! I've long believed that the tighter the rules the greater opportunity to be creative. Although it is much too early to reveal the entire design I though it would be fun to give a little peek at one little part.
Getting organized
With each new piece of equipment we add our shop gets more organized. We analyze our work methods and with staff input look at ways to become more efficient. The new CNC plasma cutter prompted a total reorganization of the shop. The metal storage was relocated to the new addition and that freed up a whole wall for other things. That in turn meant we could move other supplies and tools into those spots. Some tools never had a real home before but now are handy and organized. By the end of the game we had gone through almost every area of the of the shop. While it takes a while to remember to go to the right spot for the tools, the time saved over the long haul will be worth it. We aren't done yet but things are getting more organized all the time.
Backyard delight
Peter and Hailey's house project is now largely complete. They've managed to turn a typical plain jane 1970's box into a modern, charming, stone and wood delight. The backyard is an imaginative oasis, complete with large deck, waterfall and fire pit area.
