With the sculpting complete, it is time to do the relaxing part - the painting. It isn’t often these days that I get to do projects from the initial concept sketch through to the final finish. The Sign Invitational is the exception, which is one of the reasons I enjoy creating these pieces so much. As I paint, I reference my concept sketch but also experiment along the way. The deadline for completion isn’t until spring, so there is lots of time to dabble and change things up along the way. It shouldn’t take more than two or three more sessions to have the base colours and blends in place. Then the glazing can begin. Stay tuned…
