Janis’ favourite poem is by Jenny Joseph called ‘Warning’. It starts out ‘ When I am old woman I shall wear purple… and closes with the line… ‘But maybe I ought to practise a little now? So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised. When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.’ Today, Henry and Juniper spent the day at our house and the dress-up box, always a favourite, was one of the chosen activities. Juniper’s costume reminded me of the poem. It looked to me as if she had begun practicing.
