Thankful for a fall ride

On this thanksgiving weekend it was the perfect fall day for a brisk ride along the Vedder River trails. We don’t witness the brilliant reds and oranges that folks back east are used to. Rather, our trees gradually turn shades of yellow and orange before the leaves fall. Last night there was a heavy wind and so most of the coloured leaves were already on the ground but as the sun shone through the trees there was a definite golden hue. The river banks were lined with fishermen seeking to snag a salmon on its way upstream to spawn. Many hikers were enjoying a fall walk as well as a few fellow bikers but definitely not the summer throngs. The heat of the summer was just a memory as I had to bundle up in layers. Today, I rode more leisurely than most. I was in no hurry to finish. It was a great day to ride.
