Back to our roots

In 1992, Dan Sawatzky, with his wife Janis, founded the Imagination Corporation, however, Dan’s career as a visual storyteller stretches back to the 1970s. In fact, his distinctive style has its roots in his work as a pen and ink artist. Back in the 1980/90’s Dan’s original works and limited edition prints were displayed in more than forty galleries throughout British Columbia. He did countless original drawings and paintings and more than 125 limited editions of prints through those years.

Dan’s fine art has always been infused with a sense of history and locale that are uniquely Canadian. His work depicts the humbler qualities of objects both real and imagined and, at its best, transports the viewer to a place of wonder.

A visual polymath, the senior Sawatzky’s repertoire includes works in pen and ink, egg tempera, digital media, historical murals, and large scale sculpture. Now in his sixties, and at the height of his powers as an artist, he continues to work at a fever pace, attacking projects with an energy akin to a whirlwind.

We are proud to announce we will soon be offering Dan’s fine and concept art for purchase as limited edition prints. Each limited edition print we offer will come signed, numbered, and ready for framing. The editions will be very small.

We will be offering a selection from Dan’s back catalogue of fine and concept work as well as new and ongoing work.
