ON AND ON IT GOES...

lights on

We are still working crazy hours as we do our best to stay ahead of all the other trades on our MultiCam board room project. I volunteered to do the curved ceiling in the board room. If I hadn’t volunteered we may well have ended up with the ceiling being flat, white, plain and boring and that simply wouldn’t do on this project.

Interior

It has been years since I have done T-bar and things have changed considerably since. My memory had conveniently blanked out the time it took to accomplish the last time. The biggest challenge (besides the curve of the beams) was to satisfy the current building code as it now all has to be anchored seismically as do all the lights and other hardware up there. Working overhead has never been my favorite task... and it has now been five days of overhead effort... with almost two more days to go. While I was at it I decided to paint the ceiling the same pearl blue as the walls. Rivets were also glued to each corner of every tile to add a little detail. I used a total of 442 rivets on the ceiling. In hindsight the ceiling detail was a whole LOT more work than I imagined, but it also transformed the ceiling into something that belongs in the room. It was well worth the effort.

As soon as we are done the ceiling the tradesmen will start on the colorful cork floor. Then we will bring in the large table and finish off the last of the trim and other details. I can hardly wait...
