While the router was busy I welded up a stand, post and internal bracket for the newest project. It didn’t take long to glue the four pieces together. I left them in the clamps overnight, anxious to see how the plane would look in the middle.
This morning I removed the clamps, then cleaned up the edges and added a little texture to age the sign appropriately. Then at last it was time to fit the plane to the sign. I drilled the hole in the plane and cut a 1/2” steel rod to length, then drilled the hole in the sign circle. It looked instantly cool and the sign came alive. Once I was happy with the position I I mixed up a little epoxy and made it permanent. Over the next few days I’ll sneak in a few minutes here and there to get some coats of paint on this piece in time for the show next week.
