It happens each year. We get to see winter approach from a distance. Although wished for fervently by kids and some adults, snow doesn’t happen too often in these parts. Snow generally
only occurs two or three times during the deep of winter. Our kids, now grown, only experienced a white Christmas a couple of times in their lives. I don’t own a winter coat or winter boots for I would argue they simply aren’t needed. Some would say I am in denial, and that is OK with me.
The mountains that ring us wear their coats of white without fail. Today our own Veddar Mountain got it first dusting - visible from far below. The snow line will slowly advance down the mountain as winter deepens. We may even have to shovel the drive a time or two in January and February.
As for me... I love the beauty of it - especially from afar and preferably from the warmth of my studio.
