Making skull rock real

This week, we begin a feature I’ve been dreaming of for quite some time. It all began in Pigeon Forge last spring, when I was sitting by a fountain with our client from Nebraska, waiting for the rest of the group to join us for supper. He tasked me with dreaming up an idea for ‘Skull Rock’, inspired by a long-gone feature at Disneyland in California. The feature would complement the pirate-themed mini-golf already in development for Vala’s Pumpkin Patch. Fortunately, I had my sketchbook with me and got right to work. I drew up a quick sketch and presented the idea to everyone before our meal was served a short time later. They loved it, and once I had reworked the sketch to be a finished presentation drawing a few days later, it was incorporated into the golf. This coming week, it will be our task to begin to make this drawing as large as life using welded steel and hand-sculpted concrete. This is going to be both challenging and fun! Stay tuned…

Signing and number

After my chores in town and yet another mowing of the lawn, I spent the afternoon signing, numbering and wrapping the prints for the Hazelnut Inn. With each stay in the Hazelnut Inn suites, guests are presented with one of these custom limited edition prints. It was one more step of many to get ready for the opening of the Copper Crown suite.
