More base coats of paint

I spent three hours in the shop this afternoon laying the base coats of paint onto the mermaid feature and hole markers for the pirate-themed mini golf bound for Vala’s Pumpkin Patch in Nebraska. Tomorrow I’ll add another coat to keep us on track for completion and loading them onto the truck next Friday afternoon. Stay tuned as we work towards the completion…

Little extra push

It’s not often we work overtime in our shop, but this afternoon’s power outage put us a little behind for the end of next week’s shipment to Vala’s Pumpkin Patch in Nebraska. When the power came back on after supper, I went out to the shop to do a little work. Peter, Becke and Grant joined me, and we decided to go for broke to finish off the sculpting of the mermaid. We welded up the hair armature, tied on the diamond lath and then added two layers of sculpting epoxy. And just like that we are now back on schedule.

Working in the dark

We are in the middle of our first fall storm, and the power failed in the afternoon. We dragged out the generator to light up the Copper. Crown Suite for the sculpting crew in the Hazelnut Inn. Peter and I swung open the big shop doors so we could continue working on the mermaid sculpture we are creating for Vala’s Pumpkin Patch. We made great progress despite working in the dark. The figure is now substantially finished, and we will next move on to her hair before we start in on the paint. Stay tuned…
