It has been a fabulous summer. Two suites of the Hazelnut Inn, the North Star and the Under Hill, are now being enjoyed by guests from near and far. The third suite, The Copper Crown, is finished on the outside. The interior is well underway and looking more grand every workday. It won’t be long until you can live your own fairytale when you stay there.
Light fixture beam mockup
Next week, we’ll glue up and detail the routed pieces for the Copper Crown’s dragon light fixture. Then, we’ll fabricate the heavy steel ring and candle-shaped light fixtures that will be perched on top. Even mocked up, it already looks pretty cool. It will be able to be seen from every angle when it is hanging in the castle-themed suite.
First sculpt on pirate ship
It is a bit early to begin the sculpting on the Vala’s Pumpkin Patch pirate ship, but after a week of welding the armature and tying on the lath, we opted to do something a little more fun. The first bit of sculpting is critical as it sets the tone and style for the rest of the project. We were looking to create a wooden skull as the ship’s figurehead - a super fun piece befitting Cap’n Elias’s ship. Matt did the awesome woodgrain. We decided to make one tooth of gold, complete with a rivet to hold it in place. Our painting crew is excited to paint this fun piece. Stay tuned…
