Giant twisted log

Today, rather than tackling the entire fixture, Matt & I took our time sculpting a single log of the giant barn light fixture that will be installed at Kraay’s Family Farm in Alberta. Matt worked one side while I teamed up on the second, making sure our grains perfectly matched as they joined top and bottom on the log. In the end we had a twisted chunk of driftwood that formed half of the fixture. Tomorrow we’ll tackle the second llalf. Stay tuned…

Borderline ready

Work continues at full speed over at the Hazelnut Inn. The tile work is coming along nicely. Peter is busy gluing in the hundreds of small border tiles. This double border undulates around the curved walls of the room. Peter is making significant progress, and by the end of the week, this work will be complete, allowing him to resume filling in the center section of the floor. In the bathroom, Julianne has almost completed the expansive tile work on the walls. Things are on schedule for the open house in only sixty-five days on June 7…

Third crow under way

We made significant progress on the giant crow chandelier today. The second crow is fully sculpted, and the third is about two-thirds complete. Tony did the big job of keeping me supplied with mixed epoxy while Keith worked on applying the diamond lath to the log armatures. By the end of the workday tomorrow this piece will be ready to begin the sculpted concrete.
