The painting crew finishes more areas daily in the Under Hill Suite of the Hazelnut Inn. As they apply the final glazes, some of the crew are working hard to cut the hundreds of border tiles that will be laid around the outside edge of the great room. Becke and Peter have been gathering the special pieces of furniture and decor to make this room every bit as charming as the North Star Suite next door. Size 248 shoe
Our first task of the week was to pull the finished NEB’s wall sections out of the shop. Then, we pulled the new projects inside. One of these is the size 248 shoe for the old lady and all her kids living there. This shoe is giant and measures just under ten feet tall and about twelve feet long. It will be headed to Vala’s Pumpkin Patch in Nebraska. Tomorrow, we’ll finish the diamond lath to prepare it for the concrete sculpting later this week.

Since it is a statutory holiday, the kids are off school, and the shop is quiet. But it was far too nice a day not to work on Henry’s Jeep/parade float. The first order of business and today’s task was to give it a thorough pressure wash. I was ready to give Henry a hand, but he was ready and (barely) able to handle the considerable back pressure of the big pressure washer. He diligently sprayed every square inch to clean off years of neglect. It is now ready to push into the shop for disassembly, repaint and the installation of a new motor.
