Child's play

I consider it pure joy and a rare privilege to exercise my inner child every day. The skills we employ are the same ones we all did from an early age. Back then it was in a sandbox. Now it involves more permanent materials. Juniper and Henry joined us in the shop for a short while after school. They were of course eager to help. Under their dad’s watchful eye, they skillfully carved the giant rocks and did a wonderful job. It is child’s play after all.

Light magic

The electricians are busy installing the lighting fixtures, switches and plugs throughout the North Star suite. Much work has been done in preparation. This light is a good example. The wall concrete was sculpted to include plaster and faux wood surrounding the light. A double-layer decorative steel plate was plasma cut and assembled around the standard steel electrical box to which the light is attached. The elegant but simple light fixture is instantly over the top. We’ll screw a flicker built inside to create the perfect mood. This same magic is applied to every light, switch plate and plug in the room to help take it over the top.
