Thanks Grant!

It isn’t often we show the behind-the-scenes work that happens in our shop but many such tasks happen regularly and all are critical to our success. Grant does many of these jobs for us. He works in the office, keeping track of the books and payroll. He runs to town for needed supplies and tools. Grant is also responsible for sourcing and sizing the copious number of towel rags we require for our glazing. He does it all with a big smile!

Down to the bottom!

The painting crew has worked wonders this past week in the North Star suite of the Hazelnut Inn. They have finished all of the higher portions. At quitting time Kendra was down to the details like painting the pretend nails we had sculpted into the boards. We’ll give things a closer look on Monday, do a few touchups, and a final deep clean and then we’ll be ready to start taking down the scaffolds at long last. When they disappear it will be a whole lot easier to get around to do the finishing work. This project is coming together nicely!

Twisted vine bracket

The third sign honouring the owners of NEB’s Fun World is now fully sculpted and ready for paint. I had fun creating the twisted bean vine that winds its way over the top of the sign. The step inside the vine is structural and helps support the sign from the bracket. The twenty-four leaves are plasma-cut 16-gage steel and were welded to the steel armature before the sculpting epoxy was applied. It is going to be spectacular in colour!
