So often I hear folks dissing young people regarding their work ethic. I’ve found the opposite to be true. We’ve hired so many great ‘kids’ through the years. With very few exceptions, I found them eager to learn and willing to work hard. In fact, we prefer to hire young people and train them from the start. I also see many great, hard-working young people in my travels and recently came across some shining examples. I found a place that makes awesome cinnamon buns here in Chilliwack. The establishment is ‘Local Harvest’, a farmer’s market, cafe and bakery. The place is often bustling and the staff are always hustling, striving to keep up with the traffic. The first few times I went into the store to buy my favoured treat, a single cinnamon bun, they would graciously serve me with a smile. Last week they took service up to a whole new level. I parked my Jeep out in the parking lot and as I walked in the front doors of the market the young lady behind the bakery counter held out a paper bag with my still warm cinnamon bun inside. She had recognized my vehicle and knew what I was after - without my even asking. That’s service! Thanks!

Glimpses
There are plenty of bright colours being splashed on every unpainted surface of the interior of the North Star suite of the Hazelnut Inn. Some are just undercoats, while others are the beginnings of the base colours. A few are starting to be blends. And one can start to get a glimpse of how marvellous it will be when it is finished. But it is very difficult to see at the moment with all of the scaffold frames and planks in the way. Over the next few days, as the painters slowly work their way down from the top that will begin to change. Stay tuned for much, much more…
