The paving stones at the Hazelnut Inn are numerous and require close attention to get the pattern correct but the real work is in the edge pieces which all need to be carefully measured and hand cut. The curved edges are the trickiest. The end result is well worth the effort. We are more than half way done now.
Growing a gate post
Gateposts most often look like gateposts… but do they have to? We didn’t think so when we built ours. Instead, we sculpted a giant tree. We then planted a vine to grow over the top. It took a year or two for the vine to reach the top. Eight years later that vine has grown into a sizeable tree top.
Awesome view!
Today was spent in the yard doing fall maintenance and upkeep. It was an absolutely perfect fall day, and as I worked, I thoroughly enjoyed the view. That made the work more pleasurable and made me thankful we get to enjoy our small acreage.
