Searching for the perfect picture

As I was doing the survey of all of the signs at Vala’s Pumpkin Patch I was also doing my best to get great pictures of the signs we did in years past. The lighting on the signs constantly changes during the day, so I took multiple pictures at different times. This sign on the Mining Supply gift shop is the hardest to get a great picture of as it faces north. The solution was to wait for the sun to go behind a cloud giving me a bright sky without the harsh shadows and the best picture I have thus far. Next year when I visit I’ll try once more…

Looking good.... still!

Each year when I travel to Vala’s Pumpkin Farm to help oversee the installation of the current signs and photo ops I also take the time to carefully look over past projects. I want to make sure they are still in great shape. The ‘oldest’ signs and features now date back five years. The great news is that the entire body of work still looks as good as when they were first installed.

More colourful every day

As is our custom, the painting crew is jumping around many different projects each day. Because of drying times, up to seven coats on each piece and the need to paint on the shady sides of the features we have many features on the go both in and out of the shop. The largest of the features is the giant mushroom castle. The bottom third is out in the parking lot while the middle and top sections are inside. The glazes are well under way and it is looking pretty spectacular! It’s our hope to wrap up this feature and most of the others in the next week or so. Stay tuned for more progress…
