Final preparation for shipping

It was a busy day as the last of the features bound for NEB’s Fun World were finished up and palletized in preparation for transport next week. Four semi trucks are scheduled to arrive on Thursday and Friday along with a crane for loading. We’ll load the biggest pieces on Thursday and then the balance of the load on Friday. They will arrive at our client’s place of business in Ontario on Monday and Tuesday. It won’t be long until we see everything assembled on-site. Stay tuned…

Dino sculpt done

Henry was more than eager to finish off the sculpting on his dinosaur car which we are entering in the Yarrow Days Parade. We enlisted Lainey to mix the sculpt while Henry and I sculpted the teeth, nose eyes and the very important scales. As always, Henry narrated our progress as we studiously worked. He also talked how we will begin the painting process to make this the VERY BEST Dino car in the parade. When we were done sculpting we took it for a test drive around the neighbourhood - frightening all who witnessed us whizzing by. It is only sixteen more sleeps until parade day!!! Stay tuned…

Seven weeks of work

Seven long weeks ago Keith and I began the fabrication of the base section of the Fairie Castle, the largest single piece we’ve done in the shop. I was sidelined with my heart issues at the end of the first week but Keith continued welding on the feature between working on many other pieces, Progress seemed slow, mainly because of its extreme scale and complexity. Last week Keith finished the structure and this week he and Peter began welding the pencil rod frame in earnest. Visual progress has been swift since then! In the next day or two we’ll move the giant frame from the shop out into the driveway to begin tying on the lath and then the sculpting at long last.
