Wall to wall busy

This picture was taken a few days ago and I’m sure everything is a lot more colourful now but it provides a good view of how full the shop is these days. On Monday morning there will be a number of complete projects, ready to roll out the door. Then, as per usual we’ll do a wall-to-wall sweep as we rearrange the shop in preparation for starting a whole new batch of features. I look forward to seeing all that was accomplished during my absence. Stay tuned for some new photos tomorrow evening…

Behind curtain number two

Our shop is an assembly line of creativity of sorts. Raw materials are carried into one side where we cut and fabricate the required structures, then weld in the pencil rod armatures, lath and eventually sculpt and paint. Once complete the finished pieces are rolled out the giant shop doors. The welding is done behind an orange curtain to protect the eyes of the crew working on the other side. While this process often involves multiple members of our crew, it is Keith who does the bulk of the structural welding these days. The massive structural metal frame for the NEB’s Castle is almost complete. Next week we’ll begin the even larger Secret garden frame. Stay tuned…

Cutting edge progress

Even though I am far away tending to other matters, the crew continues to make rapid progress on a multitude of features in the studio. One of the smaller pieces is the fifth hole feature for the Secret Garden Mini Golf at Castle Fun Park. It is a magical sword stuck firmly in a large stone. This piece is now fully sculpted and is in the process of getting its final paint and glazes. Although I’m not there to witness the progress I am looking forward to seeing it in all its glory when I return. Stay tuned…
