Sculpture Magic Workshop

The sculpting workshop is designed to light your creative fires! We explore how we come up with our ideas, and what tools and materials we use to bring them to life. By breaking everything down into simple steps, we will discover that anything is possible. Our workshops are designed to take the mystery out of our craft and make it fun. Those who take the workshops are fully immersed in our creative world for three intensive days.

We squeeze a whole lot into three days, but it is our goal to share as much as we possibly can of what took us more than forty years to learn ourselves. The theme is visual storytelling. Big lift

We didn’t just lift the castle roof into place today. The North Star also got its cap, ship’s mast and rune stone as well. The top cap for the flat roof portion of the Copper Crown was also lifted into place. It was an exciting and busy day and inn the process the profile of the Hazelnut Inn became a lot more complete.

There is nothing quite as exciting or fun as a lift day. We’ve done it so many times the anxiety doesn’t happen any longer. We’ve learned to fully engineer and think out our moves so everything is planned. We’ve also learned not to rush these days for mistakes happen when things are done in a hurry. Greg from Wishlow Cranes was our crane operator for the day, one of my all time favourites. He is attentive and extremely skillful. A hand signal to lower a smidge results in exactly that which means things go together smoothly and neat. I’ve posted four pictures below which capture a little of the excitement we felt today as the Copper Crown’s tallest tower was lifted, guided slowly onto the lower piece and then securely fastened in place. I was high up in the man lift, Peter and Matt were inside. Together our efforts were MAGIC!
