While we’ve been keeping very busy in the shop, working on our client’s projects, Becke and Alyssa have been busy painting next door at the Hazelnut Inn. Things have changed considerably since my last update. The sign is now complete and looks absolutely stunning! The front wall is now much more colourful as well and looks fabulous with only a little more work to make it finished as well. Peter got the final specs for the gas meter today which means the crew can finish off that area as well before the gas crew does their install in a couple of weeks.
Practice makes perfect.
Our recent project at the Catoro Restaurant gave us some great practice for our current job. This time around we will be squeezing our features through a double set of doors instead of a single door. That means we can build the pieces at twice the scale as last time. The shop gets a little fuller each day as we weld up the giant armatures. As always, we are carefully planning how we will quickly and seamlessly bolt everything back together when we get it inside the building. As with our last experience it will all be done with hand winches and tools. Next week the pieces will be ready for the sculpted concrete shells and it will all come together in a hurry.
Welding almost done on truck
The little delivery truck is coming along nicely. Matt has been doing the bulk of the welding and we should should wrap it up tomorrow. Peter got the easy job of simply posing in the cab for the picture.
